Adelaide Writers’ Week cancelled, Louise Adler quits after withdrawal of invitation to pro-Palestinian writer Randa Abdel-Fattah

The Adelaide Festival’s writers’ week event has been cancelled, and the board disbanded, just hours after the controversy surrounding the axing of pro-Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah culminated in the resignation of director Louise Adler.

The board framed the event’s cancellation, which stemmed from a decision to rescind Abdel-Fattah’s invitation and the resulting writers’ walkout, as a “deeply regrettable” outcome and apologised for how it had been represented.
